The Training & Capacity Development Specialist plays a key role in supporting First Nations communities in building the skills, knowledge, and systems needed to implement and sustain market-based housing programs. Working closely with community leaders, housing administrators, and partner organizations, this position designs and delivers training programs, workshops, and resources that empower communities to achieve their housing goals.

Principales responsabilités

Design, develop, and deliver training sessions, workshops, and materials tailored to First Nations housing administrators and leadership.
Assess community capacity needs and recommend customized development plans.
Provide one-on-one coaching and mentorship to housing staff and administrators.
Collaborate with internal teams to align training initiatives with the Fund’s mandate and business plan.

Develop clear, accessible learning resources (guides, toolkits, presentations, e-learning modules).
Track and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and recommend improvements.
Support the sharing of best practices and success stories across communities.
Contribute to reports, research, and knowledge-sharing activities to strengthen housing capacity development initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies, Public Administration, or related field (Master’s degree an asset).
3–5 years’ experience in training, adult education, or capacity-building programs.
Experience working with or for First Nations communities, with an understanding of housing challenges and governance structures.
Strong facilitation and public speaking skills.
Ability to design engaging training content, both in-person and digital.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with cultural sensitivity.
Willingness to travel to First Nations communities across Canada as required.

Atouts

Familiarity with market housing, housing policy, or community development.
Fluency in French or an Indigenous language.
Knowledge of instructional design and e-learning platforms.
